I was humbled to find out that George Washington University's School of Media & Public Affairs awarded me with Essary Prize Honorable Mention and a check for $200. I attended the awards ceremony a week ago alongside 45 other extremely talented student journalists. The awardees told me that the one piece that stuck out to them the most was The Gender Journery Mini Doc, which I made for a class project and almost didn't upload to my website because it was not my proudest work!
My documentary class assignment is coming to conclusion this week. The film is about old-time Washington journalist Lillian Cooper-Wiggins and "The Plan" conspiracy to kick African Americans out of D.C.
I also have another video project coming up on the Sakura Matsuri, Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. that brings in more than 1.5 million tourists from around the world. Stay tuned!
